Preserving Our Heritage, Sharing Our History
KEMPF HOUSE MUSEUM
312 S. Division St.,
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
734-994-4898

Kempf House Museum, built in 1853, is an excellent example of the Greek Revival style. You are invited to visit the house, learn about Ann Arbor's early history, and see how the Kempfs lived in the 1800s.

Visitors to the Kempf House Museum will delight in seeing how a busy German-American family lived and worked in the 1890s. Trained guides will lead you through restored rooms, including the music studio where the 1877 Steinway Concert grand piano remains as it has for over 100 years. You will also hear about how Ann Arbor has grown into a prosperous city, a cultural center, and the home of the University of Michigan.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Did you know you can support Kempf House Museum by using a Hiller’s Market scrip card? When you do this, Hiller’s will donate 5% of your purchases to the house. Proceeds provide a modest but important stream of income which assists with house maintenance.
If you would like to be a part of this fundraising effort, please contact our Secretary, Jan Burnham, 668-8186, janburnham@sbcglobal.net. She will mail you a scrip card, pre-programmed for Kempf House Museum, with simple instructions about how to use the card when shopping at Hiller’s Market.

After you receive your card, present it at the service desk at Hillers when you next shop there. They will give you the easy instructions for using the card. Thanks for supporting Kempf House Museum.

Kempf House is open for guided tours on Sundays, 1-4 p.m. (except holidays), Sept.-Dec. and Mar.- May, or by appointment. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. Weekend tours will begin again on Sunday, March 1, 2009.
